About Me

Ms. Richardson: This is my 14th year as an elementary school teacher. I have been teaching at Strathmillan School for 12 years. During my 14 years of teaching I have taught grades 1-4. Most of my teaching career has been spent teaching in multi age classrooms. I strongly believe in the multi age philosophy of teaching. I am a mother of 2 amazing girls 8 & 11 years old. I have found that my experiences as a mother have influenced my teaching and understanding of young children. Prior to teaching I trained as a visual artist and have my Bachelor of Fine Arts along with my After Degree in Education. My artistic background influences my teaching as I include a lot of hands on learning and projects in the classroom. I believe in using the learning needs and the styles of students to help all learners be successful. I feel truly lucky that I can use both my love of classroom teaching and art in my everyday life.
