Home Writing Journals

Home writing journals have been sent home. The purpose of these are to build ideas for writing and build writing skills. The more we write the stronger and more confident writers we will become. Just to clarify the writing needs to happen only once a week. Students can choose one topic to write about a week and it does not have to take longer than 10-15 minutes. They may want to write on the same topic again and expand on their idea another week. Any words that they may have difficulty with can be written along the margin to use for our working on words in class. Please just choose 3-4 words and allow for some invented spelling.  The purpose of this is to build upon words that they are using in their writing and to make a personal word list to work on in class.  Typically journals are due on Friday however, when we have a Friday in- service journals can be handed in the following week so that students have enough time to complete them.
