Our Morning Routine

Our morning always start with important routines to start our day with lots of thinking. It is one of our favourite times of the day! Our morning always begins with a warm up activity. Students complete a math problem in their journals. An example from a problem we did this week was to estimate how many letters there are in the first names of all the students in the class. Record you estimate. Then count how many letters are in the first names of all students. Students worked together at their table groups with the class list to count names.

After our warm up we do a job. Students rotate through different jobs.

Our jobs include calendar work and class library time, mental math work, smart board work (mental math on the smart board), printing and handwriting work, nifty number (recording as many number sentences as we can for a given number) and number of the day.
